History of the 'black & white car'

CD3000 Austin Healey 3000 1966 (BJ8)

The Ian Morgan era - AARC Meeting, Warwick Farm, June 1st 1969.

By June 1969 - Ken's engine modifications to the black & white car were almost complete. The wider wheels (with clip on flares over the wheel arches), and the full width, rear braced rollbar etc have been obvious from the photos since May 1969. The engine mods by now also included triple 45mm Weber carbies on a Warnerford manifold, extractors & side exit exhaust, the heavily worked cast iron head (off the Ross Bond Healey 3000 - which Ross had no use for once he got a genuine factory Alloy cylinder head) - the 'Ken Webb table leg auxillary cooling system', an alloy 'Lynx' rocker cover, and a lightened flywheel. At this race meeting, the black & white car ran number 24.
